Okay, so unlike majority of our musically narrowminded teens in Australia, I am so excited about this years Big Day Out lineup. I think they're getting back to their roots and it was a fantastic effort on their behalf. Sure our generation who maybe aren't into older music may be disapointed, but BDO wasn't designed to please teeny bopper losers and will finally get their older crowd back! I personally cannot wait to see my childhood favourite bands such as Pearl Jam and Blur and of course very excited to see Snoop Dog, or as he is known as now; Snoop Lion, with those beaut piggy tail plaits on stage!
Anyway here's some classics by some of the bands performing at BDO next year, enjoy!
Better Man - Pearl Jam
Song 2 - Blur
Suburbs - Arcade Fire
Mind Mischief - Tame Impala
Ho Hey - The Lumineers
Cherry Lips - Loon Lake
Punching In A Dream - The Naked and Famous
And there's more from bands I haven't really had a listen to yet :) Everyone listen to Loon Lake by the way! They're fantastic!!!!
As this week I have two concerts in a row to attend, I figured I would give my favourite songs by Alt - J and Laura Marling, as they are fantastic and should be heard by all!!!
Breezeblocks - Alt - J
Taro - Alt - J (couldn't find a decent clip sorry for the tacky lyrics one)
Ghosts - Laura Marling (actually one of my favourite songs of all time, so beautiful)
Rambling Man - Laura Marlin
I know pretty much everyone is aware of who Alt-J are, but people should really listen to Laura Marling. She has a beautiful voice and is only 23 and has released 4 albums! Seriously guys!
I'm back from Tassie! Not much exciting happens there, especially because I go to visit my family, but I did have an idea for two photo shoots during my lonely plane ride there.
My first idea is a book of portraits of the interesting people in my life, which is quite a few. I took two of these portraits whilst in Tassie of my grandparents as they both have pretty wacky stories to tell.
My other idea is more of a comical statement. I've named it "The Anti Model" and essentially I will be taking photographs of my friends in their worst state, horrible make-up, dirty/messy hair, horrible poses etc. Would love to actually shoot that idea in the studio! Hopefully all goes to plan!!!
Anyway, will be giving my weekly music update tomorrow as i listened to a bunch of songs at the airport and on the plane so stay tuned!
So it's absolutely miserable in Melbourne today and all I've been doing is watching Game of Thrones and listening to music, with a one hour gym session this afternoon and uni in the morning (not the point)! Anyway, I thought I would give you my favourite tunes of the week (so far) !
Also I bought Beyonce tickets the other day so there will be a few B and Destiny songs in this list :)
Bizarre Love Triangle - New Order (this will feature a lot in the favourite tunes of the week, just saying, it's amazing)
Do I Wanna Know - Arctic Monkeys (also another band that will feature here, alot)
Girl - Destiny's Child (classic child hood song and oh my cher, the video format is sex in the city, wow)
Step - Vampire Weekend
and one more
Demon To Lean On - Wavves
Everyone should listen to these songs! and you should all stay tuned for more fantastic songs!
okay, haven't posted for quite sometime, and i have no excuses because I've been on uni break. I guess i could stretch the old "work" excuse.
anyway, i'm getting a bit over photography, creative block i guess, and the knowledge that everyone is better than me is quite over whelming. so now i'm just gonna make this a george blog! with a bit of everything i love, television/movies, music, art, photography, fashion and food!!
